Digital intervention for local artist, Shavonne Wong’s first solo exhibition, The Ties That Binds. The exhibition explores the connections we have with each other and the world around us, through a series of digital works.
Three of her artworks featured digital interactivity which enhances her digital artwork allowing participants to observe subtle changes occurring in real-time on screens mounted on the gallery walls.
We’ve used a range of tech to achieve the desired interactivity and immersive experience. All our hardware was housed in custom-designed 3D-printed shells that we’ve designed and printed in our studio.
The Duality of Self
With the use of a sophisticated camera and footfall sensor system, the artwork dynamically switches between the two pieces in response to the number of people in the space. Visitors are encouraged to examine their own personalities and the degree to which their introverted and extroverted tendencies are expressed in various environments and social contexts through this engaging display.
Beyond The Surface
Surrounded by a bouquet of flowers and bathed in a cool blue tone, the video's immersive experience is an invitation to see beyond the surface, to explore the hidden dimensions of a person's character. The artwork's title alludes to the concept of moving beyond the superficial, and instead taking the time to get to know someone. Through the use of AR technology, "Beyond the Surface" emphasises the importance of expanding our perspectives and looking beyond first impressions.
In Suspension
"In Suspension" is an evocative digital installation that invites viewers to reflect on the experience of individuals facing challenging moments in their lives. A lone individual sits at a table in this interactive piece of art, surrounded by dynamic, shifting lighting that represents the passing of time. Interactive is recorded when participants sit on the bench provided.
