Jake Tan(b. 1994) is a New Media Artist, Educator, Creative Technologist, and Co-Founder of SERIAL CO_. Operating at the intersection of nature, technology, and society, his multi- and trans-disciplinary practice consolidates fringe technologies, scientific methodologies, programming, and parametric design to create digi-physical works that evolve in real time. From "living" blockchain-based plants and biometric hearts to interactive systems driven by human movement and quantum-inspired simulations, his projects examine the shifting symbiosis between humans, computation, and science, asking how artmaking intertwined with emerging technologies can reshape perception, agency, and critical peripheral knowledge production.

Jake's process is rooted in collaboration and hands-on research and development across both physical and computational domains. He works with software, microcontrollers and electronics, and custom fabrication to build tangible artifacts, while also leveraging creative coding, AR/VR/MR, real-time networking, parametric 3D workflows, game engines, and projection mapping to craft immersive, responsive experiences. Often working closely with scientists, his practice draws out the unexpected for both audiences and researchers, while communicating rigorous scientific and computational methods that may otherwise feel inaccessible. This approach treats data and information as material, translated into embodied installations and environments that make invisible systems felt, from quantum simulators to computational models of black holes.

Exhibiting internationally, Jake has presented work and participated in art residencies across Singapore, the United States, Korea, Japan, Italy, Istanbul, Austria, and Germany. Through SERIAL CO_, his creative technology studio of six years, he pioneers Dynamic Digital Formats, merges digital intervention with traditional art contexts, and advances experiential development across Creative Technology, Blockchain, Immersive Technologies, and XR. SERIAL CO_ works with international brands and has secured grants and support from Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority, National Arts Council, Singapore Management University, and Nanyang Technological University.

He is currently pursuing a Master of Design Engineering at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design as a Design Scholar. Jake holds a BFA (Interactive Media, 2020) from NTU's School of Art, Design and Media and completed a MiniMasters in General Management (2021) from NTU's Nanyang Business School. He is also a founding member and core contributor to Creative Technologist Singapore, and previously served as Head of Community for the NTU ADM Alumni Association.
